She went  to the front willingly and on July 23, 1942 Maria Ivanovna appeared in the ranks of the 78th volunteer brigade .

In 1944 after a severe concussion she came back in Krasnoyarsk and began working in the field of trade .Then she married a veteran and went  to Tomsk region .Maria Ivanovna gave birth to 4 sons. But after her husband`s tragic death  in 1957 Maria Ivanovna with her children  returned to Krasnoyarsk. In the period from 1984 to 2000 she had buried all her sons . Her second husband died in 2007.
